Teachers will be meeting with these students using Google Meet. The meeting URL will be included on each teacher's daily schedule.
Many of the lessons for students in first grade and above will be delivered using the Nearpod platform. Nearpod allows teachers to create interactive, vibrant, multi-media presentations that students love. Next Steps & Helpful Tips
1st-8th Grades: Determine which device your student will be using for instruction. All of our tools will work on a phone, tablet, or computer. If using a tablet or phone, please download the free apps Nearpod, Flipgrid and Google Meet. Teachers will give students direct links that will open webpages on a computer or launch the apps on a tablet or phone.
When on the computer use the Google Chrome browser. It is fast and works great with the tools your students will be using.
Utilize tabs! Teachers may have multiple webpages for your student to look at (like a Google Meet and Nearpod lesson at once). Help your student practice keeping useful tabs open and closing tabs they are finished with.
Allow the camera and microphone. Some tools will require your student to allow access to the camera and microphone. In the chrome browser, a box will appear in the top left corner. Please click allow. If your student blocks these by mistake, you can change preferences by clicking Chrome --> preferences --> privacy and security --> site settings.
Please be aware that when your camera is in use the entire class can see everything in your surroundings. So, be sure your student is dressed appropriately as are the other members of the family. Rules of etiquette that we follow during school will be in place during virtual school as well. Words and messages shared online should be kind and appropriate to the class in session.
